One of the questions that i’m asked the most is “how far in advance should I book my vendors?” The easiest answer is “as soon as possible,” and realistically that’s the truth. However, I understand what brides are asking. They are simply asking what is general rule of thumb. I would advise you book your venue and caterer roughly a year in advance. Photographers and DJs/bands should be booked 9 months to a year in advance. As always, each situation is different. If you desire a popular venue or a sought after photographer, then you should consider booking even further in advance. If you are getting married in one of the more popular months, that should influence your decision as well. But in the end, always remember that if you have waited a little longer than most and your wedding day is approaching, it can’t hurt to reach out to a vendor and ask if they have the date available. You never know!! Good luck! J West Photography does weddings in Louisville, KY, southern Indiana, and surrounding area as well as destination weddings.
